Challenges QB Position Faces
05 Apr 2022

The Qb position is valuable at an all time high. With that value comes scrutiny.  The immortal Tom Brady considered the best Quarterback of all time is facing that scrutiny at 45 years old. We have to prepare our quarterbacks to be evaluated to the littlest degree. Websites like Pro Football Focus and articles written daily on ESPN take into account everything a quarterback does to his leadership ability, big play ability, and other factors the novice would not notice.

This has now trickled down into the college, high school and youth game. The evaluation process starts ever so young and we as coaches need to be mindful of what it takes to play the position as well as were our athlete is in there growth process and maturation.

QBs position has been asked now to carry to lead offenses from a young age. The position as well as the game has evolved so much to be quarterback driven that the pressure from parents, coaches and teammates are at an all time high. Leading a complex scheme while being 10 years old on a nationally ranked team can be sometimes determinantal to a players success, but for others they can thrive in this environment.

With all the challenges that Qbs face we have seen a surge of guys able to play earlier with effectiveness and with precision seen from professionals down in the youth ranks. Playing Qb and having that title is a special thing and we as coaches and parents need to cultivate a great environment for these athletes to help them go and grow in the future.
